James D. Bayne  

Jim supervises all leasing and sales transactions for Investar clients. He is adept at developing and implementing marketing strategies for properties throughout the Greater Houston Area. His integrity, commitment and market knowledge allow him to complete transactions both large and small. He has over thirty years experience in commercial real estate leasing and sales and has completed transactions on retail, office, and industrial space. Jim graduated from Stephen F. Austin University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Finance and is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker.

Brent C. Carter, MBA
Vice President  

Brent began his career at Investar in 2005 after completing his M.B.A. at the University of Houston. Brent is involved in managing a diverse commercial portfolio and client base, including both institutional and private ownership structures. Brent’s team manages over 900,000 square feet, including retail, shopping centers and a variety of service and industrial properties offering high class amenities. He complements the Investar management team with a strong work ethic and his refined tenant relation skills.

Frances Palacios 
Property Manager

Frances joined Investar’s team in 2010 with a strong background in customer service.  Her hands on management style has been a vital component in building and maintaining relationships with owners, tenants and vendors.  Frances’s deep knowledge of property accounting, proven ability to multi-task, and excellent communication skills make her an asset to our team.

Frances Palacios is a Houston Area native and enjoys spending time with her husband Moises and three children Elissa, Alayna, and Nicholas.

Brittney Stockard
Marketing Coordinator/Leasing Agent

Brittney joined Investar in February 2012. She is a University of Alabama graduate with a degree in Business Management. Brittney is our Marketing Coordinator and Leasing Agent at Investar.

She coordinates and plans the development of marketing materials, manages the website, social media, and other digital communications.Brittney also takes care of processing lease agreements after negotiations. Brittney enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and family.

Gary Warner
Leasing Agent  

Mr. Warner has enjoyed a 35-year career in the corporate and private sector Commercial Real Estate Industry. As the Real Estate Director for national retailers including Rent-A-Center, Big Lots and Dollar General Stores, he procured sites nationally, however, he has spent the last 10 years specifically focused on territories in Southeast Texas, primarily Louisiana and Texas. Mr. Warner has held project leasing and new project development positions with Jerry J. Moore Investments and Realm Realty where he successfully negotiated leases with national retailers including Barnes and Noble, PetsMart, Sally Beauty, The Outback Steakhouse and Payless Shoes. Mr. Warner has also assembled development tracts that resulted in new store locations for Walmart, Walgreens, Starbucks, numerous fast food and bank clients. 

As a member of the Investar leasing team, Mr. Warner takes pride in taking under-performing shopping centers to an increased level of occupancy and tenant quality by focusing on strategic leasing efforts.

Kathy Jones
Leasing Agent   

Kathy has been a valued leasing agent of Investar since 2010. She began her retail leasing career shortly after receiving her B.S. in Fashion Merchandising from Texas Christian University. She holds a Texas Real Estate Broker's license and has previously worked for; Sugar Land Properties, The Patrician Group, Transwestern and CBRE. As the director of leasing for a New York shopping center syndication group she gained experience in negotiating leases on behalf of the Landlord, in markets across the United States.

Kathy has negotiated leases with Luby's Calico Corners, Kroger, Palais Royal, Target Stores, Walgreens, Hallmark Cards, Beall's Department Stores, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, Steinmart and many more. Kathy and her husband, Frank, have two children Alex and Ford.

Lena Tran 
Director of Accounting   

Lena graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2009 with a B.B.A. in Accounting. She started her career with Investar shortly after as a Property Accountant. She was quickly noticed for her efficiency and outstanding quality of work. In 2011, she was promoted to Director of Accounting, where she oversees the accounting team and general staff. Lena is passionate about her work and takes pride in helping others succeed. She is a brilliant team facilitator with exceptional ability to motivate staff members to their greatest potential.

Lena would describe herself as easygoing and humorous. During her free time she enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Wendy Tran  
Property Manager

Wendy received her bachelor’s in Business Administration from Wichita State University in 2013 and has been with Investar since 2015.

Wendy comes from FirstService Residential starting as a Service Specialist then became On-Site Manager in less than 6 months.  She was named On-Site   Manager of the Year in 2014.  Prior to FirstService, she worked as an Executive Assistant at Account Recovery Specialist, Inc. in her hometown Wichita, Kansas for 5 years.

She is driven, a team player, reliable and always has a positive attitude. She also enjoys spending quality time with her family, fitness, outdoor activities and music.

April Wilkinson
Property Manager

April began her career with Investar in 2006.  She brings a combination of drive, sense of urgency, professionalism and experience to all aspects of her work. April is a versatile professional with 12 years in commercial and retail property management.  She naturally possesses a hard working nature and a knack for attentiveness.  She treats her clients with care and creates a rapport to understand and address any issues or need in a very personalized and intuitive manner.  Her dedication shines as she creates lasting, positive experiences with her tenants. She enjoys working with our team and always lends a helping hand.
